(1) Lars Norén's War Makes U.S. Debut January 31

War Cast
This new production of Lars Norén's War is a special project for us. We are very excited to be working with the Swedish Consulate, among a long list of others (see our website), to bring this play to life this season. It is the simple story of a family living in the aftermath of an ethnic cleansing. Originally set in Bosnia, this new production uses a multi-ethnic cast and the play is set in an unnamed country, leaving the audience to hear echoes of Rwanda, the former Yugoslavia or more recent conflicts.

War is directed by Anders Cato with translation by Marita Lindholm Gochman, and the cast includes Ngozi Anyanwu (Ghosts), Rosalyn Coleman (Radio Golf, The Piano Lesson), Flora Diaz (Tooth and Claw, The Disappeared), Laith Nakli (NY stage debut, films "Slippery Slope" and "Sadiq") and Alok Tewari (Betrothed, The Servant of Two Masters). This is the American premiere of this play and represents the first time that prolific playwright Lars Norén (who has written over 70 plays and is one of the most produced playwrights in Europe) will be presented off-Broadway in New York.

Performances Tues - Sat @ 8pm, Sun @ 3pm through March 2
