MISSION
DirtyWorks is dedicated to new voices. Introducing newcomers to the Rattlestick production track as well as fostering a home for previously produced artists to try out departures from topics, styles or realms by which they may already be defined. DirtyWorks’ mission is not about supporting individual artists, but instead about exposing theater artists to a truly collaborative production process, where everyone has a voice and can all roll up their sleeves, participate, and get their hands dirty.
ARTISTIC STATEMENT
With the often hostile critical environment surrounding new and challenging plays, it is important now more than ever to provide a home for artists to continue to take risks and to be able to create against the machine; a home where one can contradict all social constructs of the business and the art. At DirtyWorks, we will boldly, loudly and un-apologetically push ourselves, our artists and our art form to new and different standards of excellence.
It is important for the youngest of voices to have these safe zones to try, and therefore possibly fail, fully realized brass tacks productions . We must take risks so individuals may establish for themselves how they and their work may fit into the world of modern theater. Equally as important, these safe zones are havens for the established artists to create without judgment but with true and positive criticism giving one the power to redefine whatever labels may have been previously earned, just or unjust.
DirtyWorks will rise to the challenge of fostering the enormous body of artists that exists and continues to emerge each day in our community. Amplifying their voices, nurturing their souls and forging together to continue our mission of providing a home for some of the most exciting and controversial voices of our time.
