The Literary Department of Rattlestick Playwrights Theater is pleased to continue our Evening Reading Series in December with:
Inspired by Vladimir Nabokov’s short story “Signs and Symbols”, THE REAL MEANING OF THINGS follows the tragic-comic journey of Joseph, a 30 year-old man living in a tiny seaside village in Alaska. Joseph possesses an affliction called Referential Mania. He sees signs and meaning in everything, however beautiful or horrible. When “the signs” he bears witness to begin to involve the local population, things get complicated. Is Joseph insane, or in fact, a prophet? In this absurd comedy-drama, join Joseph and the rest of this town at the edge of the world, where nothing, or possibly everything has…meaning.
The reading is free, please make reservations at Literary@rattlestick.org
